The Stables building is located close to the wall that closes the Colonna garden and rests on the remains, still partly visible, of the grandiose Roman temple of Serapis.

The overall surface area of the Papal Stables is approximately 3000 square metres, distributed over several floors. In particular, on the first and second floors large spaces of approximately 1500 square meters constitute the exhibition area. A cafeteria is set up on the mezzanine floor while the ground floor houses the reception services, the bookshop, the gift shop and spaces reserved for initiatives accompanying the exhibitions.
